About Spooner Oldham. At the heart of the southern blue eyed soul scene since the 1960s, Spooner Oldham is a songwriter, producer, and session keyboardist. Born Dewey Lyndon Oldham, Jr. in the tiny Alabama town of Center Star, Oldham began playing piano and organ at producer Rick Hall's FAME Studios in nearby Muscle Shoals in the early 1960s.
