Born: 14 February 1947, Washington, D.C., USA. Died: 29 June 1975. Santa Monica. CA. USA. Buckley started out as a folk singer but quickly stood out for his extraordinary voice and compositions. He further built his reputation with forays into experimental music and improvisation, which can be heard on the albums Happy Sad, Lorca and Starsailor.

Aug. 2021 · Tim Buckley, the singer's self-titled debut album, was recorded and released in 1966 by Elektra, home to both The Doors and Love, and pretty much the coolest label in the world back then. Buckley was signed to Elektra courtesy of Herb Cohen who was managing Frank Zappa And The Mothers Of Invention at the time.

From 1968, Buckley made several TV appearances, toured the U.K. and in 1971 he withdrew from the music industry for a year. In 1972, he worked as a chauffeur and taxi driver and composed a few hits for the label under Frank Zappa and Herb Cohen. A European tour in 1974 was not well received and he returned to the U.S. in 1975 making a double album with music for a movie and screenplay.
