Rare Bird were classic under-achievers. They found singles success with the classic "Sympathy", and were capable of writing great tracks like "As your mind flies by" when they put their minds to it. "Somebody's watching" though shows how they tended to drift through albums without trying to step outside the box.

I am sitting here with the Rare Bird lp. The lp's side two is laid down first on the cd with the lp's side one laid down secondly. Also the cd's mastering itself, while not appearing to be as heavily equalized as other masters has a certain harshness to it. Still, in many ways the cd is a sonic step up from the lp. The 2007 remastered cd has the same problem with track order and sonic fidelity ...
8. Mai 2017 · The song “Hard Times” was originally recorded by Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar during their work on the Beach Boys’ Holland sessions. I’m not sure how Rare Bird ended up with it, or what happened to the “s” at the end. A review of Rare Bird's fourth album, Somebody's Watching, released in 1973 on Polydor Records.

This is in regards to the first nine tracks on this 1997 cd which are from their first album.
