Sonny Turner was an American singer. Turner hailed from Fairmont, West Virginia, and was best known for replacing Tony Williams as lead singer of The Platters.
The brand-new Platters’ rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” was also included as a bonus track (lead singer Pizarro was a first responder at the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001). Tony Williams’ replacement in the Platters lineup, Sonny Turner, passed away on January 13, 2022, at the age of 82.
