Laurens Janszoon Coster (c. 1370, Haarlem – c. 1440), or Laurens Jansz Koster, is the purported inventor of a printing press from Haarlem. He allegedly invented printing simultaneously with Johannes Gutenberg and was regarded by some in the Netherlands well into the 20th century as having invented printing first.

In diezelfde tijd stond er ook een Costercriticus op: Antonius van der Linde. Veel van wat Jacobus Koning had gevonden over Coster, haalde hij onderuit.

Laurens Janszoon Coster (1370-1440), een Haarlemse koster, werd vooral in Nederland beschouwd als uitvinder van de boekdrukkunst in 1423. Inmiddels wordt daar flink aan getwijfeld en wordt de uitvinding toegeschreven aan de Duitser Johannes Gutenberg, een drukker. Deze beste man zou gewoon eerder zijn geweest met zijn uitvinding.
