For Son Volt, Farrar recovered drummer Mike Heidorn, who had left Uncle Tupelo after the third album, and enlisted brothers Jim (bass) and Dave (guitar, fiddle, banjo, etc.) Boquist, who had previously worked with Joe Henry.
