1. Jan. 1999 · The 2000 edition of Camera Over Hollywood reinterprets the work to reveal the true achievement of Swope that was unfocussed in the original edition. Think of Robert Frank with a sense of humor working Hollywood in 1936 and you get the idea. This is an important book showing us that Swope is truly one of the pioneers of photo-modernist documentary.

John Swope besuchte die öffentlichen Schulen seiner Heimat und die Mount St. Mary’s Academy in Emmitsburg . Danach studierte er bis 1847 am Princeton College . As Dr. Swope pursued his M.Div. at Ashland Theological Seminary, he realized this was a place he could thrive. Though he had no guarantees, he harbored a hope of coming back to serve and teach. God fulfilled that dream, and he is grateful. Dr. Swope offers insights gained through years of ministry experience.
