24. Nov. 2015 · It’s 2015 and Danzig’s releasing ‘Skeletons’, the band’s first ever album of cover songs. And as much as it kills me to say it; the album’s a mess. It’s a collection of demos that desperately needed to be re-worked before being released. The recording quality varies wildly from song to song, as does the overall execution of each song.
Danzig’s vocals are really bad, Tommy Victor’s playing is horrendous (and his guitar tone even worse) and the production is non-existent. I can definitely appreciate a lo-fi recording but this is just sloppy and flat out bad, it sounds like a drunken rehearsal room boombox recording, and not in a charming or interesting way.
Glenn Danzig's intention to honor his musical roots on "Skeletons" is noble in concept. Nonetheless, the album's purposefully dirtied-up projection does it more disservice than veneration. Let ...
