Omar Mukhtar was born in the year 1858 in an impoverished household in the region of Cyrenaica which was under the control of the Ottoman Empire. As a young individual Omar lost his father and spent much of his youth in poverty.
7. Sept. 2021 · Mukhtar rode his horse toward the animal and shot it, returning with its head. Muhammad al-Mahdi al-Senussi was second in command in the Senussi movement. When he passed away in 1902, Mukhtar returned to Cyrenaica and was appointed again as the sheikh of the town of Zawiyat al-Qusour. The ruling Ottomans there welcomed his administration.

Orphaned from an early age and following his father’s designs, Omar came under the tutelage of the religious leader Sharif Al-Ghariani, who educated him in the local madrasa (Koranic school) and taught him the Koran.
