Besonders viele Platten verkaufte der bescheidene Meistersongwriter Jesse Colin Young nie, auch “Elephant Mountain” scheiterte an den Top 100. Man darf es aber getrost zu den schönsten und besten Alben der Ära zählen, und eine HQ-Ausgabe wie diese (Mastering: Kevin Gray) hatte es längst verdient! (1969/2023)
31. Jan. 2009 · While neither "Trillium" nor "Ride the Wind" is genre-bending, Elephant Mountain is far greater than the sum of its parts. In sum it functions much like the individual cut "Quicksand," where Daniels and The Youngbloods add horns and strings in just the right proportion. Levinger's matter-of-fact recounting of the sessions in the liner notes put the band's work in perspective.
Several critically praised albums followed: The Youngbloods (1967, later retitled Get Together); Earth Music (1967); and Elephant Mountain (1969), with the track "Darkness, Darkness". [5] In 1967, when the track " Get Together ", a paean to universal brotherhood, first appeared, it did not sell well, reaching only number 62 on the chart. [6]
