And even though the hits were stacking up, they didn’t get round to recording their second album – their first studio album – until the summer of 1966.
Paul Granville Samwell-Smith (born Paul G. Smith, 8 May 1943, in Brentford, West London, England) is an English musician and record producer. He was a founding member and the bassist of the 1960s English rock band the Yardbirds , which launched leading guitarists Eric Clapton , Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page to fame.
16. Feb. 2023 · In short order, McCarty set hit kit up behind Keith Relf, Paul Samwell-Smith, Top Topham, and Chris Dreja, forming the Yardbirds. The original Yardbirds lineup didn't last long, and with those changes came the likes of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, who, in their own ways, each contributed to the sound and legacy of one of England's great musical institutions.
7. Juni 2023 · Paul Samwell-Smith’s notes for Wild World show only 10 of the available 16 tracks were used during the initial recording and later overdubbing sessions. The overdubs included the piano played by Stevens, the occasional double-tracked lead vocal, John Ryan’s acoustic bassline, bongos and two tracks of Harvey Burns’ drums. The drum arrangement was a further example of Stevens’ genius.
