Although his name is not as well known as some of his collaborators, Fritts was an integral part of the development of the 70s country soul sound.

27. März 2023 · Also in 1974, Jerry Wexler produced Fritts’s solo album Prone To Lean at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Fritts also has had an incidental acting career, performing in a number of films by director Sam Peckinpah, including Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974), and Convoy (1978).

9. Feb. 2013 · Whether by himself or co-writing with other National treasures such as Dan Penn, Spooner Oldham, and others, Donnie Fritts delivers stirring songs with real soul. "Rainbow Road" is my favorite for its expression of true devotion to music. The album both rocks and soothes, and I'm so happy when a current recording evokes that sound.
