About Schurz. Carl Schurz High School is located on the northwest side of Chicago at the corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Addison Street in Chicago, Illinois. It opened its doors for the first time on the first Monday in September of 1910 to a group of 1031 students. The first principal of the school was Mr. Walter F. Slocum.
