Trenchard, Hugh Montague, first Viscount Trenchard (1873–1956), air force officer, was born at Windsor Lodge, Haines Hill, Taunton, Somerset, on 3 February 1873, the second son and third of six children of Henry Montague Trenchard (1838–1914), solicitor, and his wife, Georgina Louisa Catherine Tower, daughter of Captain John McDowall Skene RN.
