Execution Day. William Bonin. On February 23, 1996, the people of the state of California finally followed through on their decision that the world would be a better place without William Bonin. After fighting for his life for 17 years, the notorious "Freeway Killer" became the first person to be executed by lethal injection in California.
William George Bonin wurde am 8. Januar 1947 in Willimantic, Connecticut, geboren. Bereits im Alter von acht Jahren wurde William wegen des Diebstahls von Autokennzeichen erstmals vor Gericht gestellt und in ein Jugendgefängnis gesteckt. Dort wurde er von älteren Jungen sexuell mißbraucht, was er seinerseits – als er wieder zu Hause war – ebenfalls mit anderen, jüngeren Kindern machte.
