Early Life and Entry into Journalism. Born on December 16, 1941, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Lesley Stahl’s journey began in a Jewish family. After graduating from Wheaton College in 1963 with a degree in history, she embarked on her journalistic career, which started in local television stations and led to her joining CBS News in 1972.
