  5. Max Amann was born into a Catholic family in Munich, Germany, on 9th February, 1902. After leaving school he joined the German Army. During the First World War he was a sergeant in the 1st Company of the 16th Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment where he met Adolf Hitler. Amann recommended Hitler for officer training.
