Volunteering Day – giving back to the local community. On 3 May 300 students (Third, Fourth and Lower Sixth Forms) spent their day volunteering in the local community and also in areas across the school campus. Fettes College hosts volunteering days throughout the year, encouraging students to appreciate the importance of giving back.

Fettes College is named after Sir William Fettes, twice Lord Provost of Edinburgh. Having lost his only son and heir in 1815, he decided to devote his wealth to ‘the maintenance, education and outfit of young people’. The size of the bequest enabled the architect David Bryce to pursue a grandiose design for Fettes College.
