In 1067 the Normans arrived and asserted themselves by building a new castle that dominated the city skyline. Originally wooden, it was remade in stone after 1100AD. Today the Castle is a Museum and Art Gallery, hosting many works by the Norwich School, led by John Crome. Normans in Norfolk.
5. März 2021 · The exhibits range from a history of life in Norwich to sea-inspired works to religious paintings, all housed inside a former medieval castle built during William the Conqueror's rule. It's been a museum since 1894, and it makes for a great visit for adults and children alike. Tickets are required (but they are notably inexpensive), and there are ongoing workshops and events for kids.

They opened it to discover a book that had been badly vandalized. On the back cover was a note from the past, written by one of the Norwich Congregational Church deacons in 1848.

As I’ve already mentioned, it is now possible to explore one of the undercrofts via guided tour. This tour, also known as the Hidden Street tour is run by The Shoebox, formerly known as KindaKafe. The Shoebox is located on Norwich’s Castle Meadow street.
