Nostradamus, latinisiert für Michel de Nostredame, auch Michel de Notre Dame, war ein französischer Apotheker, der als Arzt und Astrologe tätig war. Schon zu seinen Lebzeiten machten ihn seine prophetischen Gedichte berühmt, die aus Gruppen von je 100 zusammengefassten Vierzeilern (Quatrains) bestanden, den sogenannten Centurien.
