Iko Iko by The Dixie Cups was written by Sugar Boy and was first recorded and released by Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters in 1954. The Dixie Cups released it on the album Chapel of Love in 1964. It was covered by Loverde, Palermo Boogie Gang, The Incredible Casuals, Sugar Beats and other artists.
Iko Iko by Cyndi Lauper was written by Sugar Boy and was first recorded and released by Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters in 1954. Cyndi Lauper released it on the album True Colors in 1986. It was covered by Palermo Boogie Gang, Porterhouse Bob, The Incredible Casuals, Robin Sylar and other artists.
22. Jan. 2024 · The third Sugars Boy and His Cane Cutters solitary, “I Bowed on My Legs,” gained the group a residency in the Baton Rouge nightspot the Carousel Golf club, but brought a finish with their Chess affiliation, departing greater than a dozen unreleased edges within the shelf.
Still, Aladdin resisted releasing the remaining material from the Sha-Weez's J&M session, nor did the label book another studio date. The group nevertheless remained under contract to the label, but in late 1953 Crawford and Myles began recording for Chess as Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters.
