After a period of time in the early 1970s when Prysock was primarily performing cabaret shows, he came back to the national spotlight for his 1976 Gamble and Huff disco hit titled “When Love Is New” which peaked at number ten R&B.

  7. Count Basie employed the services of a number of singers but the two most famous and well remembered are the celebrated blues shouters Jimmy Rushing and Joe Williams. Judging by the excellence of this CD Arthur Prysock could have made the third of an illustrious trio but unfortunately this 1965 outing is the only occasion that Basie and Prysock worked together.
