29. Dez. 2023 · Lise Tréhot was born in Ecquevilly, Seine-et-Oise, France, on 14 March 1848, to Louis Tréhot and Amelie Elisabeth Boudin.Her father was the postmaster of the town until the mid-1850s, after which he moved the entire family to Paris where he sold lemonade and tobacco.
Renoir used Tréhot as a model for a full-length portrait painted in 1871-1872 (Guggenheim Museum, New York). Called "Girl Feeding a Bird (Lise)," this work was made as part of an elaborate pictorial dialogue with Manet and Courbet. She is Lise Tréhot, the artist’s lover and the female model for almost all of his work during the early stages of his career. This is one of the first nudes that Renoir painted. He took a traditional artistic approach, depicting her in a natural setting, reclining by a stream as though she were a naiad (water nymph) from the world of Greek mythology.
