Mike Pinera. Mike Pinera (born September 29, 1948) [1] is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer who started professionally in the late 1960s with the group Blues Image, which had a number 4 hit in 1970 with their song "Ride Captain Ride". After the breakup of that group, he joined Iron Butterfly, and later formed the group Ramatam.
Johnny Weis was my Dad. Sadly, he passed away in 1965 when I was only 17. He was a great professional guitar player admired by his peers. He was well known for his very rhythmic chordal “comping” and very percussive Jazz/Bebop – oriented soloing.
