Tish Hinojosa kam als dreizehntes und jüngstes Kind mexikanischer Einwanderer in Texas zur Welt. In ihrer Jugend wurde sie beeinflusst von den traditionellen mexikanischen Liedern ihrer Eltern und der Pop- und Folkmusik aus dem Radioprogramm der 60er Jahre. Als Teenager begann sie Gitarre zu spielen und zu singen und hatte bald erste öffentliche Auftritte in ihrer texanischen Umgebung.
Finally, after a four-year absence from recording, Hinojosa returned in 2000 with Sign of Truth. In 2001 Texas Music Group re-released the classic Taos to Tennessee, and in 2003, the holiday album From Texas for a Christmas Night and a live best-of record were both issued.
The set opens with a great version of Feliz Navidad, on which Ray Benson is joined by Tish Hinojosa (a brilliant but vastly under-rated singer) continuing with an amusing look at Christmas in jail and maintaining a light-hearted approach throughout. Fellow Texan Willie Nelson is featured on a couple of duets.
