History [ edit] The Kingston Trio (Nick Bob John) was the trio's first release on the Decca label after seven years, 19 albums and worldwide record sales in the tens of millions (three million on "Tom Dooley" alone) with Capitol Records. The names are those of the Trio's members, Nick Reynolds, Bob Shane, and John Stewart .
The only full-length album released by either group was The World Needs a Melody in 1973 (though 25 years later FolkEra Records issued The Lost Masters 1969–1972, a compilation of previously unreleased tracks from the Shane-Horine-Connor years), and its sales were negligible.
