Commerçant, diplomate et écrivain grec, Dimitrios Vikelas (ou Bikelas) fut, de 1894 à 1896, le premier président du Comité international olympique, alors dénommé Comité international des jeux Olympiques. Dimitrios Vikelas est né le 15 février 1835 dans une île des Cyclades, Syros, au sein d'une riche famille de commerçants.
