The misunderstood genius is a documentary that allows numerous interpreters of Bruckner's music to have their say. The feature film "Anton Bruckner's Decision" is about his decision to give up his position as cathedral organist in his familiar Linz in order to work as a professor at the conservatory and court organist in Vienna.
The film opens with an actual photograph of Bruckner taken in 1854 when he was aged thirty. We then move into the film itself with actor Joachim Bauer bearing an uncanny likeness to the composer.
