The Artist (engl. für „Der Künstler“) ist ein Spielfilm des französischen Regisseurs Michel Hazanavicius aus dem Jahr 2011. Die Tragikomödie spielt zwischen 1927 und 1932 in Hollywood und erzählt die gegenläufige Erfolgsgeschichte zweier Leinwandstars (dargestellt von den französischen Schauspielern Jean Dujardin und Bérénice Bejo ) in der Übergangsphase vom Stumm - zum Tonfilm .
The Artist received widespread critical acclaim and won many accolades. Dujardin won Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival , where the film premiered. The film was nominated for six Golden Globes , the most of any 2011 film, and won three: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy , Best Original Score , and Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Dujardin.
