The group formed in Chicago in 1965. Members have included Alohe Burke, Clarence Burke Jr., James Burke, Dennis Burke, Kenneth "Keni" Burke, Cubie Burke, Dean Gant. They got their name from their mother, who said that they looked like five stairsteps when they stood beside each other in order of age. The group broke up in the late 1970s.
