Janet (Buschmann) (Ertel) Bleyer. Profile: American singer. An original member of "The Chordettes," a popular female quartet founded in 1946 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She sang bass in the group. Born Septembber 21, 1913 Sheboygan, Wisconsin Died: November 22, 1988 Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Married to bandleader and record company owner Archie Bleyer.
The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. The original members were: Janet (Buschmann) (Ertel) Bleyer, bass vocals, 1946-1957 (longer for recording) Alice Mae (Buschmann) Spielvogel 1946-1947. Dorothy "Dottie" (Hummitzsch) Schwartz, lead vocals, 1946-1952. Jinny (Osborn) Lockard, tenor vocals, 1946-1953, 1954-.
