Mai 2015 · In 1962, Belgrave moved to Detroit and settled into life as a studio musician for Motown Records, playing on such legendary hits as “My Girl,” “Dancing in the Street,” and “The Way You Do the Things You Do.” When Motown moved to California in the 1970s, Belgrave co-founded Tribe Records, a Detroit collective through which he released albums and produced concerts.
19. Aug. 2019 · The Time Is Now! is Phil Ranelin’s first album under just his name, even though many other Tribe members play on the recording including Wendell Harrison, Marcus Belgrave, and others. Very different than Ranelin’s 1976 album Vibes From The Tribe , the 1974 album is a lot more loose or free in it’s instrumentation even though there is an overall foundational groove throughout the record.
