19. Juli 2010 · I remember Tommy Steele when I was a kid and thought he was great. Loved the old songs. Saw him on stage a couple of years ago in Bristol in the Glenn Miller Story. I thought we’ll I’ve seen Tommy in real life after all these years. The film was very dated but who cares it was Tommy at his best.

Under navnet Tommy Hicks spilte han i skifflegrupper før han fikk platekontrakt som soloartisten Tommy Steele i 1956. Det året ble debutsinglen Rock With The Caveman en stor slager i Storbritannia, hvor han også gikk til topps med Singing The Blues.
