  1. Jeannette, Pennsylvania. David Carey graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1964. He was interned as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam after he was shot down on August 31, 1967 and was held until his release on March 14, 1973. He is the author of the book "The Ways We Choose, Lessons for Life from a POW's Experience".

  4. 13. Apr. 2014 · Dave Carey is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. During the Vietnam War, after his plane was shot down, he was interred as a POW in Hanoi for five and a half years. His military honors include the Legion of Merit, five Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Purple Heart, eight Air Medals, and the Navy Commendation Medal.

  6. Dave Arthur Carey was born in Coulsdon, Surrey on November 8th 1914. His father was a pianist. Dave took up drums at an early age and by the early 1930s was leading his own band in the Croydon area, developing an interest in jazz through records. Shortly before the outbreak of war in 1939, Dave opened a musical instrument shop in Streatham.
