Born in El Paso, Texas, but raised in the San Gabriel Valley of California, Vikki is the eldest of seven children and began performing at the age of four. She was signed to a contract with Liberty Records in 1961 and Grammy nominated for Best New Artist in 1963. She recorded, It Must Be Him, which charged up the charts in England.
