Die Besetzung wechselte ständig, nur der Bandgründer und Frontmann Kim Simmonds war immer dabei. 1965 wurde die Band von Kim Simmonds unter dem Namen Savoy Brown Blues Band gegründet. Sie machten bald erste Demoaufnahmen.

With Simmonds at the helm, Savoy Brown remained prolific over the decades, touring the world and recording and issuing new material on an annual basis. In 2020 the group released Ain't Done Yet, their 40th long-player.
