Orson Welles is such a visual filmmaker, and the black and white imagery in this film—although not exactly subtle— is incredibly memorable and striking. I think this is perhaps my favorite film of his now, because the story, the setting, the length are all so perfectly contained in a single vision, and they all appeal to me the most.
