He started working in studios in the early 1920's and produced his last film in 1975. The book was published in 1980, and Mr. Wallis was still planning on producing more films.

He is best known for producing Casablanca (1942), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), and True Grit (1969), along with many other major films for Warner Bros. featuring such film stars as Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne, Bette Davis, and Errol Flynn.
