  3. 10. Feb. 2024 · In April 1964, rising New Orleans R&B singer Irma Thomas entered the studio to record her single, “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)”. The session’s arranger, HB Barnum, suggested Thomas record “Time Is on My Side” as a B-side. She agreed but said it needed lyrics. Barnum asked session singer Jimmy Norman to write some — and he did so on the spot.
