The park was founded in 1896 by A. W. G. Bean and his partner John Outhwaite. The current managing director is Amanda Thompson.

Rides and amusements for all ages, nobody felt left out, the queues were not big (10-15 and only in the thrill rides, the others were no time at all). The boys loved every moment of it and I enjoyed feeling like a big kid again. Definitely the best place for a family day out, and excellent value for money.
All in all a great day out and if you can get a deal which we did, £32.50 is a great price. The park is looking very smart and fresh, I didn't see one area that looked like it needed smartening up. Could do with being open a little longer than 6 hours. Read more.
