The roots of “Misirlou” can be traced back to a traditional Eastern Mediterranean folk song. The original version, composed by Greek musician Nicholas Roubanis, gained popularity in the 1930s and was later adapted by various artists. However, it was Dick Dale’s 1962 American surf rock rendition that truly brought the song into the mainstream.

Misirlou. Misirlou wird als Intromusik im Quentin-Tarantino -Film Pulp Fiction aus dem Jahre 1994 verwendet. Hierbei hat er das Lied in der Version von Dick Dale & His Del-Tones aus dem Jahre 1961 verwendet. Die Melodie des Liedes ist allerdings wesentlich älter. Es ist ein altes Volkslied der Griechen, Türken, Araber und Juden.
