Davenport ist die drittgrößte Stadt im Bundesstaat Iowa der Vereinigten Staaten (USA). Das U.S. Census Bureau hat bei der Volkszählung 2020 eine Einwohnerzahl von 101.724 ermittelt. Die Stadt ist Teil der so genannten Quad Cities von Iowa und Illinois. Bekannte Einrichtungen sind das Palmer College of Chiropractic und die Saint Ambrose University. Davenport ist Hauptort des Scott County.
Nach dem Scheitern der Schleswig-Holsteinischen Erhebung entzogen ihm die dänischen Behörden seine Anwaltszulassung, und Hedde emigrierte 1854 zunächst nach New York und dann nach Davenport (Iowa). Ab 1857 lebte er in der deutschen Neugründung Grand Island (Nebraska), wo er erfolgreich als Geschäftsmann und Publizist arbeitete.
