The Silent Gun plot. Brad Clinton is known as a quick shooter, but has decided to hang up his gun after nearly shooting a little girl with it. As sheriff of a shabby town, however, he must convincingly enforce the law. He therefore reneges on his decision to the extent that he will carry his pistol with him, but leave it unloaded.
