Bei der Entwicklung legte Airbus Wert auf verbesserte Treibstoffeffizienz und reduzierten Lärmpegel. Die Sicherheit des A320neo ist ähnlich derjenigen der ursprünglichen A320-Familie, die als eines der sichersten Flugzeuge in der kommerziellen Luftfahrt gilt.
