Anielewicz Mordechaj, pseud. Marian, Malachi (hebr., Aniołek) (1919/1920 Wyszków lub Warszawa – 8.05.1943 Warszawa) – działacz organizacji Ha-Szomer ha-Cair i Makabi, członek Żydowskiego Komitetu Narodowego w getcie warszawskim, komendant Żydowskiej Organizacji Bojowej i dowódca powstania w getcie warszawskim.
Mordechai Anielewicz was born in Wyszkow near Warsaw in 1919, and grew up in a working class Jewish family. After finishing secondary education he joined the Zionist movement Ha-Shomer ha- Tsa’ir where he distinguished himself as an organiser and leader.
31. Jan. 2023 · There are also memorials for him in Wyszków and in Warsaw, where in the 1960s Gęsia Street, site of a former German concentration camp, was renamed Mordechaj Anielewicz Street. In 1983, 40 years after their deaths, the Israeli government issued a two-stamp set honoring Anielewicz and Josef Glazman as heroes of the Warsaw and Vilna ghettos.
