He was 69. Allman died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at his home near Savannah, his manager, Michael Lehman, told The Associated Press. He blamed cancer for Allman’s death. “It’s a result of his reoccurrence of liver cancer that had come back five years ago,” Lehman said in an interview.
Leider wird Gregg Allman nicht interviewt - wollte er wohl nicht - schade, aber schön sind einige Szenen, die Gregg und die Band bei den Aufnahmen im Studio zeigen. Es wird auf der DVD und im Booklet auch erwähnt, dass die Texte bedeutsam sind, schade, dass heutzutage kaum noch Texte in den Booklets abgedruckt werden, da muss ich mal etwas genauer zuhören.
Bakgrunn. Gregg Almans foreldre var Willis Turner Allman og Geraldine Robbins Allman. I 1949 ble Willis Allman, kaptein i US Army, skutt og drept av en haiker han hadde plukket opp. Etter dette flyttet brødrene Gregg og Duane Allman (1946–1971) med sin mor fra Nashville til Daytona Beach i Florida, der de spilte i ulike lokale band.
