Matthew Ruddick has written a book titled Funkiest Man Alive – Rufus Thomas and Memphis Soul (University Press of Mississippi/Jackson; ISBN: 9781496838407; 334 pages), and in the middle it contains eight pages of black & white photos and still 35 b&w photos elsewhere in the book, some familiar promotional pics but many also from the family collection.
I always considered James Brown the Funkiest Man Alive but than I heard Rufus Thomas. Every beat is funky and full of soul & energy. Hit after hit, Rufus does not disappoint at all. He will put you in a good mood aka a funky mood, make you wanna dance. This LP is highly recommended if you love Funk aka Soul music.
