Thus he ignores the Dawkins' strongest critique of theism - that it is false. But to Dawkins, who was writing before the internet was even invented, a meme is any unit of cultural transmission. Memes work like genes and spread through culture the way genes spread through a population. Doge is a meme, but so are catchy tunes, a way of making pots and a fashion style. Memes replicate.
