Born in San Diego, California, Tafolla is the son of Rosie Hamlin and Noah Tafolla, the singer and guitarist respectively of Rosie and the Originals, who recorded the hit single "Angel Baby". [2] A member of the heavy metal band Jag Panzer from 1981 to 1985, Tafolla has rejoined the band several times over the years for albums and live concerts.

Rosie and Originals’ guitarist Noah Tafolla were married for three and a half years. Their off-spring, Debbie and Joey, are full-grown; the latter is a guitar teacher. Rosie has remanded in the music biz through all the years, with the exception of 1979 to 1983 when she was an art teacher in Colorado.
Tranapol got her a recording contract with Brunswick. Aside from her boyfriend, Noah Tafolla, none of the Originals were included in the deal. In place of the crudities the Originals had supplied were the lush strings and flawless instrumentation of the Dick Jacobs Orchestra. Hamlin and group member Noah Tafolla later signed with Brunswick Records, and recorded an album and toured. They eventually married and had children, and in 1963 she retired to raise her family. She stayed out of the music business for six years, returning in 1969 to record several singles, and did so again on and off until the 2000s.
