Founded in 1886, a modern college by Oxford’s standards, St Hugh’s has a rich history which has formed its current character as a progressive college, dedicated to academic endeavour. This page covers the main undergraduate subject areas we offer at St Hugh’s College.
English is one of the largest and most successful subjects at St Hugh’s. St Hugh’s also offers up to three places each year on the graduate-entry Medical course, where students with a suitable previous science degree can undertake an intensive four-year programme. St Hugh’s has a strong and distinctive tradition in History (not least as the college of the great Gladstone scholar Colin Matthew), and provides first-class facilities for studying the subject. The library has unusually large and up-to-date holdings in all periods, and there is an active and well-resourced History Society.
St Hugh’s welcomes applications from candidates wishing to read Experimental Psychology or PPL (Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics).
